This option basically asks you which drive should be used for making the bootable drive. Choose the source or ISO file that you wish to make a bootable of. Persistence is basically the amount of disk space that is reserved as non-volatile.
So that you can use the USB bootable without installing the OS and any changes you make will be made to the bootable. I usually leave it to a or Megabytes just in case I need it. There are 3 sub-options here. And I would say you check mark the first two options that say hide the files on disk and format the drive in fat32 Note: You Will lose all data on the drive. So you can leave it unchecked. With a reasonably modern machine, this should take around 10 minutes.

If you're using Windows 10 or any computer with a bit processor, we recommend the bit download. Most Macs with Intel processors will work with either bit or Mac images.
If the bit image doesn't work, try the Mac image.
